Log dialog displays truncated commit messages after editing them

In the log dialog, commit messages are shown in full in the message
list (or are truncated after a rather long size, I do not know for
sure).
However, after editing the message, it is shown truncated to 76
characters, with ellipsis added at the end. Refreshing the message
list by hitting F5 corrects this.
