Disabled the "next 100" button if the sort order is not by revision,

Fixed in revision 8440.

Please note that we can't show a progress indicator if you specify a
date range or some revision which isn't a plain number: to show the
progress we need to know beforehand the number of revisions we're gonna
fetch, and with date revisions that's not possible.

You can't sort by bug-ID because a bug-ID can be any string there is,
and that column can even contain multiple bug-ID's - how would you sort
then? Sure, we could sort by string, but that's not really useful if you
have multiple ids shown in the column - and of course multiple revisions
can have the very same bug ID.
