Antw: Re: Bug? Syntax for file is wrong ... and feature requests

Hi Peter,

First of all, thanks for your reply!

I do understand perfectly that nobody is supposed to touch these .svn files. Actually, I am sure in my case nobody did modify anything in these directories (intentional). Whatever happend, now I am confronted with the situation that I receive this error message and I know that there are several changes in these directories that are not yet committed. How do I fix this? (And what caused it so that I can prevent this from happening again?)

About the feature requests:
Export is not helpful in this respect. It just writes the content from the repository tree without the Tortoise Metafiles. It even just overwrites any local files with the same name regardless if they are newer oder older.

I understand that, if something is messed up, you can always checkout everything into a new folder. Unfortunately, this is VERY painful if you have many changes in your original local copy. It is not trivial to find out which files were modified in comparison between the two trees and then you need to decide and copy all these file to the new (working) tree. My feature requests would remove this burdon in a coordinated way.

Thanks for the time and consideration,

Regards,

Gunter

Files in the .svn folders should not be deleted or edited. These are
required for TSVN to work correctly.

Tortoise would need to compare the current state of the local tree with the one in Subversion and allow to update or committ all the differences exactly like other changes after a tree was checked out. (Info about file moves and renames would be lost)

You can achieve the same result by using "Export" to a nominated directory.

Sometimes, when files in the .svn directories are messed with by users
"Cleanup" cannot execute correctly and it's necessary to "Checkout" a
new working copy to continue working with TSVN. The same would apply
even if you were using SVN from the command line.
