Hello people,
I have a subst drive R: assigned to a folder D:\DriveR on a hard drive.
Our team uses drive R: as our primary development root and have had no problems
with previous versions of TSVN and SVN. Recently I upgraded to V1.4 and have
noticed :
+ green ticks appearing on non-versioned files
+ the "Short URL" column display in explorer being plain wrong eg. inside R: I
have folders called projects and tools. Under R: they were showing DTIMain (my
repository name) as the URL, while on D:\DriveR they were showing the correct
value, a much longer branch URL.
+ The recursive status not working eg. in R:\ the folder are all green, while
in D:\DriveR one folder is red due to a file inside it being red. Going into
that folder on R:\ shows the offending file as green too, when it has
definitely changed. After doing a clean up on this folder, the file goes red,
but the folder does not.
No amount of refreshing or waiting changes anything.
When I change the "Status Cache" to "Shell" in Settings->Look and Feel->Icon
Overlays these problems go away, but as documented I no longer have recursive
overlays which is a very desirable feature.
Subst drives are an extremely useful thing, especially in a team environment.
It means you can use absolute paths while not dictating where developers place
their local working copies. This bug makes this technique unreliable - a very
bad thing in CM.
Thanks to all responsible for TSVN and SVN - its a huge improvement over my
previous environment - StarTeam, and for free !
Regards,
Gary
