Yes, this is a possibility, however:
1) It is often more convinient to view added files in TortoiseMerge,
e.g. when reviewing a commit with 10 files changed and one added it is
frustrating when added file is opened in a different application.
2) As I said above, this feature was implemented (in 1.4.0, I believe)
for locally added files. It would be logical to extend it to a files
added in outher branches.
3) At least make "Open" the default action for added files -- as it is
now, you have to pick it from context menu instead of simple
double-clicking.
