Thanks for the links. It's nice to know this feature is on the horizon.

The switch trick will have to do as a temporary solution.

P.S.

After having upgraded the server and clients to 1.4 this feature is not
quite as important as it used to be for us. The performance upgrades in
this release make a noticeable improvement in checking out our
repository especially off-site.

SVN and its community are amazing.
