The simplest way to handle this scenario (for those who want to
experiment with 1.4 RC builds from a 1.3 install) is to check everything
into the SVN repo., delete all local WCs, upgrade to 1.4, and then
checkout the WCs. A lot of work, but will have the best chance for
success without corruption (assuming the WC format changes are big
enough to warrant that process). The format, from what I understand,
underwent some sort of significant change, but what the changes are, I'm
not sure of. The aforementioned upgrade path is a relatively "safe"
approach as it minimizes the possibility of data corruption of the .svn
subdirectory and file structures. It does assume the repo. format
hasn't changed significantly between 1.3.x and 1.4.
