"which is a quite common approach" is wrong. *You* might do this, but
it's definitely not common, neither in Web-development nor anywhere
else. Because it's a wrong approach. You can read about a much better
approach in the Subversion book.

parts below are not)

Does it?
* how does it fail?
* when does it fail?
* what are the problems you have?
* what were you expecting to happen?
* what has actually happened instead?
* "in such cases" - which/what cases do you mean exactly?

Maybe good info. But since you have not mentioned what your problem
exactly is, I don't know what I should do with this information. No
idea if it's even relevant to your problem, because I don't know what
your problem is!

Workaround for what? Where did you read about that workaround?

Since I don't know what should be possible in the future, I have to say no.
