Well, once again, in SVN as a whole (and every source control system I've
used) if you do not specify a version to branch / tag from, you
automatically branch from the youngest version.

My whole point in providing scenarios, playing devil's advocate, etc., etc.,
is to make the point that consistency is a Good Thing. You may not like the
way that the svn command line client does it, but it still does the same
thing (perform operations on HEAD by default) consistently throughout the
entire system. Trying to buck the norm just because 2 people think it's a
good idea doesn't make it Right.

If you really want to make this argument, try taking your suggestion that
revs always be specified to the svn dev mailing list. I'm sure they'd
appreciate it.
