plink wont connect

I've been having trouble trying to get TortoiseSVN to connect to my server. I am using ssh with a private key loaded by pageant. I just moved my repository to a new server. everything was working fine on the old server, but now I'm having trouble. I'm not sure if it's a client or server issue. plink connects fine with the saves putty session, but when I try to use tortoise, I get nothing. if I use the included (hacked) plink.exe, it just hangs tortoise. if I use an external plink.exe it just disconnects and says "Connection closed unexpectedly"
