(Hi, all, and thanks in advance. -Eric)
BACKGROUND:
We recently migrated a large code tree from VSS to Subversion. Revision
1 of our Subversion repository is a single giant snapshot of our old VSS
tree -- for older history we just keep a read-only copy of the old VSS
tree. So there are thousands of files in our Revision 1.
PROBLEM:
Whenever a user selects revision 1 (e.g. to compare current version with
initial snapshot), the Tortoise Revision Log Dialog hangs for several
minutes while the bottom pane loads thousands of records.
FEATURE REQUEST:
(1) Implement similar functionality to the current Show All/Next 100
buttons, but for the file list in the bottom pane, rather than for the
revision list in the top pane.
(2) Review Tortoise for similar issues in other dialogs that I (newbie)
may not yet have encountered.
ALTERNATIVES:
Various alternative implementations possible. Being able to right click
on a newer revision and select "Compare with revision..." would be one
option, as would a lazy load. Currently, I don't see a way in Tortoise
to compare a file with revision 1 without selecting revision 1 from the
list and thus fully populating this 3rd pane.
