TortoiseIDiff questions

Hello,

how do you determine if to use TortoiseIDiff for diffing?
I didn't find new settings and I have no special mime-type
set for images, but it works. Why? :-)

Which image types are supported? I found some icons where
for which "The image can not be shown" is displayed.
