Recent commit messages issue

Hi

I have a few commit messages that I often use. I use the "Recent
messages" button to find them, but as I write new commit messages, the
often used ones move down only to disappear after some time, and I have
to rewrite them. Is there reason why a commit message is not moved to
the top (i.e. it is not the most recent commit message) when it is reused?

Also it would be nice to be able to configure the number of recent
messages to store.
