I think that is the right thing to, by reasons mentioned already.

Then I have one feature request for 1.3.0:

The "UpdateCheckURL" registry setting is very handy, thank you for
implementing it.

It would be even better if you had an option to define download
location for new version inside this version file.

The functionality would be: If there is a never version, then the user
will see a hyperlink, which is click-able. If the version file
doesn't define this URL, then default location is used.

The version file could also contain a format number for the file, so
it could be easily extend, for example:

format = 1
version = 1.3.0.12345
url = http://intra.foo.com/tsvn/tsvn-1.3.0.12345.msi

This brings following benefits:

- There won't be any confusion where to get a new version or which
  file to download (yes I have seen several confused users, downloaded
  zip files and so on...)

- Load from mirrors will be reduced

- Corporate IT-help would be happier...
