The last commit timestamp on the status page also says 17.10.2005 for all
the latest translations, which makes me think that a local "svn up" has
failed on the server where I run the translation status script.

No

The '\r' is necessary for some windows controls and poEdit just displays the
warning from msgmerge which, originating from unix, doesn't know that these
strings are for windows.
