I would like to say that this "Don't commit these files by default"
feature is very desirable for me too.
Only the fear to be burned alive ;-) prevented me from suggesting this
as another option similar to ignored files list. There are situations
when I want certain files (such as Delphi .cfg, .dof and .res) under
the version control, and even want to commit them occasionally -- but
95% of time I just have to remember unselecting them in commit dialog.
