RE: [TSVN] PowerDesk Problems

Hi,
the problem is, that I do not have PowerDesk installed. At least I do
not see any entry in the menu to add or remove programs.

But the user has an registry entry
(HKEY_USERS/.../Matrox/Powerdesk/Version6), that should not be used on
the specific machine (has no Matrox graphics). Anyhow, it is for version
6, which should cause no problems.
Nevertheless to be shure I adapted the workaround, but the problem still
is existing.

Are there any other programs known to create problems? As mentioned,
with 1.2.1 everything is OK.

Robert

Subject: [TSVN] PowerDesk Problems

Hi,

I don't want to warm up the old diuscussion about the explorer crash
when both TortoiseSVN and PowerDesk are installed. I have already
heard that it is a PowerDesk bug.

However, I want to suggest that the FAQ entry about PowerDesk
(http://tortoisesvn.berlios.de/?q=node/106) could be made a bit
clearer. The FAQ only states "TSVN doesn't work on my PC", it could be
more specific, something like that:

I have PowerDesk version 4.x or 5.x installed. WHenever I right click
on a folder in PowerDesk or in Windows Explorer, the application
crashes.

This is a bug in PowerDesk. There is a fix for Powerdesk 5, but it's
not available on their website; you have to contact support to get it.
They'll give you an update to a later version (5.0.1.7 - which is
strangely not on the update portion of the site) then send you a patch
to bring you to 5.0.1.8. which fixes the problem.

Workaround: Diable Ownder Drawn Menus in TortoiseSVN using Regedit:

* Go to the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TortoiseSVN
* Create a DWORD value named OwnerDrawnMenus
* Set its value to 2

(At least that fixed the problem on one of our computers running
PowerDesk 4.x)
