[TSVN] Report: TSVNCache Hung Explorer

From: Nathan Kidd <nathan.kidd_at_hummingbird.com>
Date: 2005-09-09 18:32:31 CEST

[I send this note to determine if this problem is something happening to
others, and thus warrants more investigation -- it's an anecdote, not a
bug report]

OS: Win2003 SP1
TSVN: 1.2.2 r4295 32-bit.

1. Yesterday, using Explorer, I quickly browsed several directories deep
into my WC, clicked on a subdirectory in the left Tree-view pane so I
could see the contents, and Explorer hung[1].
2. I killed explorer and started a new explorer process via taskman's
Run menu. The new exploler was still hung.
3. It stayed hung for more than 30 minutes (I was busy working in other
windows, via alt-tab) so it seemed like an infinite block.
4. Finally I had to deal with it: taskmanager showed no processes using
CPU, so I closed all applications, thinking I had to reboot.
5. Then, I decided to kill tsvncache, just to see what would happen:
Immediately explorer sprang back to life and all was normal again.

Somehow TSVNCache.exe was blocking explorer. This is the first time
I've ever seen this happen.
