Never heard of violations? Just google for "GPL violation", and you'll
find some very interesting stuff. The most prominent example being CherryOS:

The LAME project has two links (one of them to the Maui company) under
"Hall of shame":

So as you can see, no matter what license you choose, bad guys always
will steal your work. But with a GPL, you keep the good guys from using
it too because they're using another OS license (e.g. Apache license).
