Markus,

Thank you for the technical information. I was under the false impression
that Tortoise could use, for example, DAV, which I can only assume would
provide full unix compatibility. However I see the issue where you grab a
file through the windows explorer shell - Samba's involvement.

I've been looking at services for unix. Wonder if this might provide an
interface layer that Tortoise could use?

Meanwhile, if I avoid the unix link files everything else seems fine (but I
have to also be careful of some file attributes, too).

Tortoise is a very nice and capable interface. Well thought out and stable.
I think it would further benefit with a unix-unix capability. Wish I had
the time to help build it :)
