I don't use the tree view if that's what you mean by "left pane". Just
the normal single folder view on the right.

Cleanup doesn't fix the status icon. It's still showing as modified even
though if I commit, it says there's nothing to commit. It fixes it for a
fraction of a second, but then it changes back to a "!" (presumably
because it's recursing the folders and has found something in there it
thinks has changed - even though nothing inside the folder appears to
have been modified (I've got recursive overlays on).
