Does that mean that if the user already set up another association to
handle .doc files, then we don't overwrite it?

One feature which would make this whole area a bit easier would be if
the diff/merge tools could be enabled/disabled with a check box rather
than deleting the entry from the table. The problems with deleting the
entry are: a) you throw away all the information, so it's hard work to
re-install the entry. b) you have no record that the tool was ever
installed, so on next upgrade, TSVN will put that entry back in again.

Sorry Stefan, I am proposing ideas again without being able to implement
them myself :-(
