The main end-user benefit is that it makes the use of recursive folder
overlays practical. It's also supposed to speed-up TSVN icon overlays in
general. Both of these are because it tries to maintain a larger and more
accurate (hence longer lived) cache of status than previous versions, which
means that it's much more likely to hit the cache rather than have to ask
the SVN libraries.

But recursive overlays is the main thing.
