Hmm, is there any way to enable this "workaround" again? It is really
annoying, you can not view the log of a deleted branch.

Actually, the command line client can do it, if you show the log of a
working copy of a now deleted branch, then there is no error, even
without specifying a peg revision. What is the difference here?
