Might this be related to the query from 'Jahwa' about commit failure
with chinese folder names? Does anyone else using non-ascii file names
see problems? tdkim?

I'm scratching about in the dark here because I don't know enough about
UTF-8 filenames, and no-one else has responded to these questions yet.
