I tried to reproduce this but I wasn't able to do so. I used file:///
access to a repo on my local disk, with the appropriate hook set up. The
message was set correctly.

After I relocated this working copy to http:// repo access I see this
issue. So I think it has something to do with reading/parsing the log
message since it does not occur on file:/// with the same message.
