Tortoise SVN seems to be really slow when doing an SVN update.

Unless doing an SVN update within a folder that has no sub-folders,
running SVN update takes up to 30 seconds. Doing the same thing on the
same repository but checked out into a Linux OS takes next to no time
at all (command line).
