Right, you can specify a different folder icon in the hidden Desktop.ini
for each folder.

Use this on command line:
attrib -S -H Desktop.ini

Then you can save this as Desktop.ini in the folder:

[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll
IconIndex=7

You will get an fixed drive icon...

Don't know if this any helpful because we need the overlay for files, too?
