That column is just a "preview" of the real logmessage. I was never
intended as a replacement for the full log message view below.
Also, if you enter a log message like this:

logmessage summary

now the detailed log message
(notice the two newlines, i.e. the empty line after the summary)

then only the summary will be shown in the column.

I don't think that's too much work to see a log message.
