I don't think so - I think it would be useful if everybody could get to it
- at least the keener people on the list what get a better idea how/why the
cache works or doesn't work.

I would just do a tree view which when refreshed, ran through the cached
directories map and put all of them into a tree.

I don't think it has to be a live view, which would interfere with the cache.

I'm pretty much neutral on that - I don't think raw total numbers would be
terrible useful, and I suppose I'm tired of useless tray icons! But it
would give an easy way into things like popping-up the cache view, plus
some other slightly useful things like 'purge cache'.
