I agree.

Often, not all (or only a few) of the affected files are mentioned in
the commit message, so using the paste filenames format means I have to
delete most of the lines.

Also, the "paste filenames" format used does not comply with our
internally agreed format. Is it possible (for users) to change the
format used?
