Thanks Stefan. All works as expected now.

Seeing my password in the clear in the registry is a bit scary!

If anyone has some time on their hands (!) it would be nice to see
the password cached for the session. Have a look how Pageant (PuTTY
authentication agent) does this. It seems to cache the password for
the key used for SSH client authentication. Only need to enter it once
per workstation login, but isn't stored in the registry.
