I assume from the lack of responses that these ideas are not being worked on
and are not high priority (which is fine--I understand that other things are
probably more important). If that's not the case, let me know.

Assuming that things aren't going to change in the near future, we'll start
looking at our own commit dialog that helps the developer to do the right
thing (or at least makes it less easy to accidentally do the wrong thing).
