I'm not. I'm participating in a discussion.

Personally I think it is extremely close to having too many options as it
is, and a few of them might have been avoided by improving the
implementation rather than allowing people to switch it off.

That's not a criticism of Stefan at all - it's enormously quicker to add an
option to turn something off than it is to rewrite it, and perf-related
things are often very difficult to verify on a different setup.

Absolutely. It's just hard to get rid of them once they've been added.
