I do like the idea of a service if it could fetch the status while the
system is idle and monitor directory changes after that. Our working
copy isn't huge, but it is 3,360 files in 216 folders (after export so
ignoring .svn stuff). It can take quite a while to do a recursive
status check on the root, and when you have 3 copies of it in a single
folder (different branches) then explorer can lock for a long time when
you first go in to that folder.

Idle scanning and monitoring would allow it to fetch the status
overnight and when I come to work in the morning, it may make recursive
over-lays useful for us.

It would be really nice if they could work for this.
