That is standard behaviour for most mailing lists. SVN is the exception
rather than the rule in that they often copy the sender as well as the
list, but in general you are expected to monitor the list for replies.
If you want to be copied personally, normally you have to request it.

We could adopt the 'copy to sender' policy too, but anyone already
subscribed to the list, or using a newsreader (as I do) would find it
annoying to get duplicate messages. And _everybody_ has to follow the
policy, otherwise the sender can get fooled into thinking that they are
being sent _all_ replies automatically, and miss the ones which appear
only on the list. IMHO the SVN list has, in trying to be helpful, made a
rod for its own back.
