Sure, just put it in the folder 'contrib' which I just created. If
there is more than one file, create a subfolder for it.
Oh, and maybe a README in the root of the contrib folder explaining
each script which is in there.

Yes, exactly. I know some people have scripts to refuse
case-insensitive filechanges as a pre-commit hook (e.g. File.txt and
file.txt), and I'm sure some other usefull scripts are around which
could go in there.
