This is a fix for a bug that Karl originally thought might be the one
causing TSVN crashes, although in the issue database he is less
optimistic, because it should be trapped by an assert. However, there is
some question about whether asserts are compiled in TSVN due to the
NDEBUG setting, so we may just be crashing at a later point. Worth
checking up on.
