Now that there is a comment history combo, I think the automatic recycling
of comments after a failed commit should be dropped. If I want to re-use the
last comment it is easy enough to pick up manually from the new history
combo.
This avoids the case where a commit fails on one project, I leave it until
later to sort out and go to work on another project. I then find an
unrelated comment being automatically recycled into the commit dialog of my
second project. And it is recycled every time I commit, until the original
conflict is sorted.
Personally I find it very easy to forget to enter a log comment and just
click on OK, so I set a minimum comment length to remind me to do it
properly. Anything which allows me to press OK without thinking is not a
good thing IMHO.
If I click on the history combo and then press escape without selecting an
old comment, the default entry is copied into the log comment, but none of
the controls work. I have to go back to the combo and select something
explicitly to get the controls working again. I think if I press escape in
the combo, nothing should be pasted.
Simon.
