[TSVN] working copy locked err

hey,
 
getting a 'working copy /path/ is locked' error trying to update.
 
can't find anything on the tsvn site about this (or in mlist archives).
 
the svnbook has 'svn cleanup' or something down as the solution when
getting locked errors; but this is decidedly awkward.
 
is there any obvious cause and/or solution to this - maybe something in
tsvn im missing already?
