I made a comment on this a few days ago. The Apply Patch dialog only shows
certain file extensions by default, (unless you select files-of-type "All
files"). But it doesn't tell you what the preferred/common extensions are,
and which ones it will show up as type "Patchfile". I know it doesn't show
.txt because that is what I used to start with.

The Create Patch dialog also offers to save as file-of-type "Patchfile", but
again does not suggest the extension type. I am not advocating forcing
anyone to use ".patch", just making things clearer.

Maybe the dialog could say something like File-of-type "Patchfile (*.patch;
*.diff; *.txt)" or whatever.

BTW. Luebbe has now added my section on patchfiles to the manual, but there
may be some subtle issues that I have missed. If you spot anything, let me
know and I will have another go at it. I know I forgot to mention that
patchfiles are in unified-diff format.

Simon.
