I think you're a minority with that opinion. If you have many different
working copies you would get annoyed if you had to add each of those to
an "allowed" list. But if you encounter that some very big working copy
slows down the explorer too much you can then easily add such a "block"
file to those working copies.

And most people don't have such very big working copies, most people
have several smaller working copies where they work on.

Also, you can decide if you just want to exclude such directories
completely from showing overlays or just from showing them recursively.
