This is very similar to a request I made, and would solve my issues also.
However, what version of windows do you have. On W2K in the View tab, Folder
views section ("You can set all of you folders to the same view") there are
two buttons labelled (in English): "Like Current Folder" and "Reset All
Folders".
The check boxes and buttons you describe above don't exist - even allowing
for translation differences.

And of course I don't want to save this option for _all_ folders since for
non-SVN folders I want to see the icon view.

But thanks for the tip for when I move on to XP (I'm assuming that is what
you have).
