The only other platform we could technically provide is Win64. We
cannot do that until we have binaries we can provide reliably.
CollabNet will provide them someday, when they do we will likely add a
plugin.

There is no reason it should not be reliable to stop working. It just
relies on PATH. If it is installed and in PATH it should find the
library and it should work.

That is what users on OSX and Linux have always had to do. Also, it
is only a "must" to update the SVN binaries when it moves from 1.5 to
1.6 to 1.7 etc. Whether you want the intermediate fixes is ultimately
up to you.
