gtk 2.17.3 did really bring a lot of problems for swt, luckily the worst
problems causing eclipse easily to crash on pango library were fixed
before 2.18 was released.

I am running Mandriva 2010.0 with libgtk 2.18.3 and subclipse 1.6.5 and I
do not however see your problem.

I am however also having sometimes problems for pressing some dialog
buttons with mouse. I read from eclipse bugzilla that it was some z-order
bug that was planned to be fixed for eclipse 3.5.2.

Hopefully the swt linux libraries will see some update soon, when I
builded it for tracking these problems, I noticed that it was using a lot
of deprecated gtk functions especially for lists and comboboxes.
