Users on various Linux versions have reported this over time. It
appears to be some kind of SWT/GTK version issue. For example, Ubuntu
users never see the checkbox, but I've always been able to see it on
RHEL 4 and 5.

Unfortunately, none of that really helps know what specific GTK
version you need or need to avoid.
