Subclipse 1.4.7
I tried both Eclipse Classic, and Eclipse Java developer bundles. (So basically, with and without Mylyn)
I also tried JavaHL and SVNKit.
Same results either way.
I did the SVN Checkout using TortoiseSVN 1.5.5, and then used File->Import->Existing Projects into workspace.
If you're willing to install YourKit, you can open the attached file to see a lot more details.
I did notice that when this problem occurs, I see over 6 MILLION I/O read operations in Task Manager for Eclipse. This would seem to indicate that status is being called many times for each file.
