FWIW, it doesn't actually loose the version information, but what
happens is the label decorators get switched off (I suppose Eclipse
does this when the decorator throws an exception?). I have been able
to get them back by disconnecting and reconnecting the project to the
repository ("Share"). The thread linked by Mark contains more details,
probably.

I don't work on the Mac daily, so unfortunately I have not really been
able to find a pattern, let alone a reproductive recipe.
