Another thing you might check.

Do you do your builds outside of Eclipse? If so, then what might be
happening is the build is creating a lot of files in the filesystem.
When you edit a file and save it, this triggers Eclipse to notice that
changes that it did not know about have occurred, and for it to
Refresh itself. To test this, just right-click on project and do
Refresh. Then edit and save a file and see if it is faster.
