First off, it is not exactly true. Subversive is now a project at
eclipse.org, and they are hoping to get on the Ganymede release train.
Let's assume they make it. That still does not mean they are going
to be "included in eclipse 3.4". They will be on the Ganymede
discovery site along with all the other plugins, but they are not part
of the main download or anything. They actually have not even been
allowed to provide JavaHL or SVNKit with their installation, so new
adopters are likely to have a fairly poor initial experience until
they can solve that problem. Unfortunately, it will probably mean
skirting around Eclipse policies to do so.
What does it mean for Subclipse? Do you mean from a user's
perspective? As in will users decide to switch to Subversive? I
can't possibly answer that. I am sure some will. That being said,
Subclipse is still the only one that is developed close to the
Subversion development community. I am not aware of anyone from
Subversive even contributing an email to a mailing list, let alone a
patch to the code or reporting a bug. I am a full Subversion
committer, and work closely with the Subversion developers to get the
needs of Subclipse reflected in the Subversion roadmap. The SVN 1.5
release is going to be huge for us and contains a number of
enhancements and fixes we have asked for. Last week I posted details
on the upcoming Subclipse release:

If you were wondering if Subclipse is going to still be developed.
The links from the above email should answer that. For the first time
ever, Subclipse has some corporate backing from CollabNet, which means
we can devote more resources to its development. CollabNet has built
its CollabNet Desktop - Eclipse Edition on top of Subclipse and has
created an awesome merge client on top of Subclipse. We will continue
developing and supporting Subclipse for the foreseeable future and of
course our support for the Subversion project itself is as strong as
ever.
